Present Continuous Tense
(I am doing)

FORM  am, is, are + base form + -ing (present participle); for example: writing, talking, smiling
   
USE  We use the Present Continuous tense to talk about an action happening now (at the moment of speaking).
   
SIGNAL WORDS look, listen, now, at this moment, at present, etc.

 

EXAMPLES

  1. The sun is shining.
  2. I am not sleeping.
  3. They are not reading their books.
  4. They are watching television.
  5. What are you doing?
  6. Why aren't they doing their homework?
  7. Look! It is raining.
  8. Listen! Can you hear the children? They are having a wild party.
  9. Be quiet, please. I am reading a book.
  10. Please don't be so loud. I am listening to my English cassette.
